My name is Matt Runion, and I'm a software developer by profession. I enjoy
working with graphical applications like Blender 3D, Inkscape and GIMP. I
use Linux as my oeprating system of choice. I do occasionally boot into
Windows, but that's to play some old games with my son. He also uses Linux
occasionally (he's 11), but he is mostly on the PC to play games (and uses Windows
to do it).
I have over 24 years of software development experience. I started writing software
when I was 14 years old. Even at that age I was writing software used by the high
school I was attending. My current "pet" language of choice is Python. It's a
high level language that makes most tasks extremely easy to code. My daily job
requires PHP and Javascript (AJAX) development, along with a lot of MySQL work.
As far as employment experience, I have been employed in a developer role for
the last 12 years. Most of this time was as a contractor of some sort, so I
gained a great deal of experience with how different organizations handle their
IT needs. Those experiences have provided me with a valuable view into many
ways to handle situations and the outcome of those choices.
In my personal life -- which I feel is not necessary to expound upon here --
I have a wife, two sons and a baby girl. I have many hobbies that interest me,
such as computer graphics and simulations -- and especially Physics!
